In 2010, Artist David Kam attempted to organize a music festival in the spirit of Woodstock ’69 with the Co-creator and the Father of Woodstock, Artie Kornfeld, called Imagine: 2 Days of Love and Music, a LOVE-IN for the 21st century to benefit various charities.
The concert was to take place in Toronto, but ran into difficulties, so it was postponed until after 2012.
“Some people think that organizing a world class event is easy, but it is not. I always try my best, as well as keep a open heart and a open mind, but the way the world is now, it takes enormous resources, both in money and in talent, to make it all happen, but unfortunately we were not able to pull all the resources together in time in 2010. The dream of John Lennon for all of us dreamers lives on. So long as there are dreamers, we will be able to create a better world”, says Artist David Kam.
About the Postponed Event in 2010
“Imagine all the people, living life in peace” are words written by John Lennon nearly 40 years ago. In 2010, 41 years after Woodstock ‘69, Co-creator and Father of Woodstock, Artie Kornfeld had a similar message.
“What we imagine today will turn into tomorrow’s reality,” says Kornfeld. I look forward to seeing everyone come together at IMAGINE in 2010 to join hands in this show of unity; with a purpose for a better, kinder world for our children and grandchildren than what they are now looking at. It is up to all of us to change the seeds of violence that erupted at the G20 Summit in the recent weeks and create peace for all. We may not make the definitive difference but we will start the change.”
The concert was scheduled for Saturday, September 4th and Sunday, September 5th. Artie Kornfeld along with visionary artist David Kam was to host IMAGINE “2 DAYS OF LOVE & MUSIC,” a LOVE-IN festival at Downsview Park in Toronto.
“It was the ‘spirit’ and the ‘people’ that made Woodstock that summer of ‘69 and it will be the ‘spirit,’ the ‘people’ and the ‘desire for a new positive world’ that will make IMAGINE 2010,” says Kornfeld.
The net ticket proceeds from the IMAGINE festival was to go to various charities.
It was to be more than a ooncert. At the heart of the world unity gathering to create sustainable change would have been an Electronic Global Village that will bring together schools, governments, businesses, non-profit organizations, leaders, artists and individuals from around the world to share ideas, form alliances, and take action to impact social change and save planet earth. This enormous Global Village would have connected satellites, computers, cell phones, TV, radio, and social networks to allow millions of voices, once silenced, to finally be heard. In turn, the village will create a citizens managed fund to create jobs, end poverty, and save our planet.
