THE IMAGINE NATION GUITARS REPRESENTS THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD
The guitars are inspired by John Lennon’s song Imagine, and will be used in the re-recording of the song Imagine by an ensemble of musicians. Then it will be exhibited in museums and art galleries; after it will be auctioned off for various charities.
The guitars are part of the Imagine 2012, a Woodstock ’69 style Earth Summit and World Citizens Gathering Concert for the year 2012, whereby Concert for Japan in 2011 is the first year concert of the project.
A key principal of The Borderless Land of Imagine Nation is that imagination can change the world for the better by encouraging us to think “outside the box.” The guitars are the brain child of social activist and Artist David Kam in honor of
John Lennon’s song Imagine, which is also Artist David Kam’s inspiration for the creation of The Borderless Land of Imagine Nation.
Concept: The Imagine Nation Guitars brings together some of the world’s top visual artists, with some of the world’s leading musicians, and celebrities, with the goal of uniting humanity to bring back the spirit of the world.
How it works?: Visual artists will paint the Imagine Nation Guitars, which will then be played and signed by some of the world’s leading musicians and celebrities. The guitars will then be displayed in art galleries/museums before being auction off for charity to create sustainable change.
Theme of guitars: Combined as a guitar series, the Imagine Nation Guitars represent the “positive spirit of the world” and the ideals of The Borderless Land of Imagine Nation.
Each of the guitars will be painted with a different theme, such as:
Goal of the Guitars: The guitars are part of a people’s initiative, which hopes to create a sustainable Imagine Nation citizens fund and a support system to benefit humanity, as well as planet Earth.
Sponsor: The unpainted guitars are generously donated by Canadian guitar maker Carparelli Guitars.
Already painted: The British artist Damien Hirst has already completed the first guitar, which was auctioned off at Christie’s to benefit War Child. Approximately US $147,000 was raised for War Child at the auction. Hirst, who rose to art stardom as one of the Young British Artists in the nineties, has since won the esteemed DAAD fellowship in Berlin and the Turner Prize. The original name of the guitar was “IMAGINE NO POVERTY GUITAR”, but Damien Hirst’s management renamed it simply as The Scarborough Nine guitar.
The IMAGINE FREEDOM GUITAR has been painted by Grammy Award winning artist Jim Warren, and will support Amnesty International.
